I’m not a winter person #imustconfess

Yep, I gave away my confession in the title but I don’t think it was ever going to be a surprise to anyone.

While I do like the idea of snuggling up with a blankie and sitting in front of a roaring fire, I prefer feeling the warmth of the sun on my arms and not having to layer my clothing.

Winter has certainly made itself felt this last week. The air conditioners have been switched on and the woolly socks and slippers have made a belated appearance. The cold has certainly arrived in full force.

Yes I know I need to work on my winter style…

And while a part of me doesn’t mind snuggling into a warm bed at night it’s the seeping cold of the other 18 hours of the day that wears me down.

I really don’t like feeling cold at all.

I must confess I’m not a summer person either. I can count on one hand the trips I’ve taken to the beach over the last couple of years – it doesn’t help that my pale skin is not suited for our Australian summers.

Give me autumn or spring though – they are seasons that suit me just nicely!

But winter is here and I could continue to bitch and moan about it or I could choose to see the humour in my situation. So I choose to laugh.

And these memes sum up my thoughts of winter perfectly – so I had to share!

  1. Yeah definitely not a fan of winter but I do love summer, Autumn and Spring. I must admit Spring isn’t great for my hay fever but I still like the warmth and the light!

  2. I love winter for the clothes. That’s it.
It does not do well with my fibromyalgia. And right now I have a head cold that has completely bowled me over. I swear it’s a full blown chest infection, but it’s probably just a plain old cold.
I’ve linked up my “head cold edition” post because it seemed to be in fitting with your theme.

  3. I prefer Summer or Spring too, but there are some good things about winter.

    • Kirsty says:

I think I would love it more if I had a real wood fire – I miss that from my old house. There is something about a real fire that no air-conditioner can replace!

  4. I like a temperate season and climate. I prefer to keep warmer though than to try to keep cooler. Nevertheless, Spring/Autumn are probably the best. Denyse

    • Kirsty says:

That is a good point D – it is definitely easier to get warmer than get cooler. But I do miss the warmth!

  5. I am a summer girl all the way. Heat heat heat. I can’t get enough of it. When the weather looks to cool down, I start to get sad and HATE it.

    • Kirsty says:

I used to get depressed in autumn with the onset of the cooler weather. Now that two of my kids’ birthdays are in autumn it’s no so bad but I do believe that seasonal depression exists.

  6. Ness says:

I like the in between seasons too. Those memes are hilarious!

    • Kirsty says:

I have to say I enjoyed finding these memes – although the die winter die one is my absolute favourite!

  7. Raych says:

I love winter. It is so much easier to rug up than it is to cool down in summer.

  8. Hahaha the memes are awesome. I love winter because I love layering but I do need to invest in more socks because my feet are always freezing.

    • Kirsty says:

My feet are always cold as ice too. I have to wear socks in bed so I don’t disturb Nathan with my cold, cold feet during the night!

  9. jess says:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Winter! I enjoy the fashion 10x more, the hot coffees with cold cheeks, all of it 🙂 I have always wanted to live somewhere it snows.

  10. Tory says:

Winter all the way!! Hot tea under a doona is heaven.

  11. Vanessa says:

I’ve gotta say, I love the autumn we just had in Brisbane. It was perfect. I wish summer was like that.
