I must confess…something I should not have done but did anyway

I must confess that I did something on Saturday that I would never normally do.

It may have been due to the influence of a couple of glasses of celebratory wine. And the cider afterwards…

My cider at the tennis

I only remembered to take a photo of the cider – mainly so I could send to Nathan who was back home with the kids (I was being very mean!)

Or it may have been due to the effect of being in the company of three of my best friends.

My tennis buddies

They’ll kill me for posting this photo but it captures them perfectly – love you all to bits!

But I found myself doing what I have never done before – waiting in line for a photo and autograph opportunity with a celebrity.

As I’ve shared before, I don’t do this sort of thing. I never have.

But for some reason on Saturday, I did.

And I was rewarded with a few photos and autographs from two of my all-time favourite tennis stars – Goran Ivanesevic and Mark Philippoussis (who both actually feature in my lame claims to fame post above).

Meeting tennis idols

Now my friends think I hogged the shot – what do you think? I just think I happened to be in the right place at the right time…

I’m not sure whether I’ll ever do it again, but the feeling of exhilaration and the euphoria that followed was amazing. We’ve been visiting the Sydney International for nearly 20 years now and this year’s visit will definitely be among the most memorable for many years to come!

Now onto my REAL confession of the week – something that I should not have done but went ahead and did anyway.

I could have gone with many examples here. But I went with one that has been on my mind lately as I have been playing a little too fast and loose with this aspect of my life. You can find out more by checking out my vlog below:

Why the vlog? Well in last week’s confession about my goals for 2016 I mentioned that I wanted to attract 1000 followers on each social media platform. YouTube has only ever been a platform I have flirted with from time to time but my confession posts are the perfect fodder for video and I would like to improve my video skills.

So from now on, I Must Confess will be open to vlogs and video as well. And will more often than not feature a filmed confession of some kind from yours truly.

So if you want to find out more, check this next video which introduces what my vision is for #imustconfess moving into 2016.

So, in a nutshell (and if you were too lazy to watch my very brief 2 minute long video!) there are a number of ways to participate in #imustconfess this year.

  1. The Monday #imustconfess linkup for bloggers to link up their confessions and for non-bloggers to comment with their own.
  2. The I Must Confess Facebook group, where anyone can join in and add their confessions all week long.
  3. MyHomeTruthsBlog YouTube channel which holds all the #imustconfess vlogs and where you are welcome to comment, subscribe and link to your own video content.

So what are you waiting for?

Make your confession and join in with the fun and the real community we are building here at #imustconfess!

And don’t forget to join in with our #imustconfess community over on facebook. It’s where the confessing continues beyond the linkup. And the best part? You don’t even need to blog or be a blogger to take part!

Join the community!

To help you along with the confessing, here are the future prompts so you have no excuse not to take part each week!

  1. Love your Vlogs. I’ve been playing around with Vlogs myself in the break but don’t like the sound of my own voice. My confessional is more a case of over sharing this week, so I may look to move it to private in a day or so.

I’ve done vlogs before and I do enjoy them but they can be a bit of work. But I think I’ve worked out how to do them quicker and I’m hoping to improve as I go along. Off to read your post now before it gets set to private.

  2. Denyse says:

Hi Kirsty, go girl. I had no idea till this post just how much of a tennis fan you are! I know how much you are looking forward to playing again. My late mum was a huge tennis fan and regular weekday player. She, like you, went to the NSW Open with friends and to other matches with her friends. This brought back great memories for me. As for the vlog, you sound incredibly confident yet measuredin your presentation. I envy you that as I tend to speak too fast.I have made some Youtube clips for my old blogs re education and they were OK but never found me the audience I wanted. My only suggestion.. sunnies have to go!! Love your work, Denyse xx

    • Kirsty says:

Hahaha – yes I know the sunnies have to go. They were a little bit of a security blanket and it was pretty glarey when I filmed it. I will definitely address that next time around. Thanks so much for your lovely words and I’m glad to have brought back some good memories for you too!

  3. Good for you! Whoop Whoop!

  4. Tegan says:

The photos and vlog look great! I’m glad you explained the photo with Goran and Mark because when I saw it on Facebook I thought to myself how rude that other people had jumped in on your shot lol!

  5. cate says:

I’m glad you summarised your video, I’m one of those too lazy to watch! (at least on the computer, it’s much easier on ipad)

  6. I should so venture into the world of vlogging – it’s yet another thing on my ever growing to do list!

  7. You totally hogged that shot! Your friend on the right in the photo of your three friends looks exactly like a friend of mine. Love the vlog idea.

  8. Well done on your vlog. You talk
So nicely. I always think I sound like bogan

  9. Go you ! Great work stepping out of your comfort zone and getting the pic and autograph . Im enjoying Vlogs at the moment. I was going to do a Vlog linkup but have decided to do some more of my own first and am busy editing one now to put up .
Jules @ Toddlersplusteens recently posted..A stitch of inspiration

    • Kirsty says:

Thanks Jules. Next step is to plan the videos out better and pay attention to lighting, etc. There is so much to consider and take in. Good luck with your vlogs – I will definitely check them out.

  10. When did you get diagnosed as Coeliac? What does eating gluten do to you – sorry excuse my ignorance! I’ve always just assumed it does what bananas do to me – worst stomach cramps ever and need to be near a toilet, feel very queasy for about 24 hours after consumptoin! I can’t think of anything I’ve done that I shouldn’t have … however plenty of things I haven’t done, that I should have!!!! I’m not really into videos/vlogs but good on you for pursuing your goals!

    • Kirsty says:

I was diagnosed just over 2 years ago now although Nathan was diagnosed 5 years earlier so we’ve been pretty much gluten free for over 7 years now. Eating gluten gives me very bad wind, bloating and sometimes cramping but it’s not debilitating. Which is why I’ve had those very few moments of weakness, knowing that the consequences would not be all that bad!

  11. Anne says:

Celeb photos and autographs … go you. The closest I think I have is the fake spice girls and backstreet boys from when I was a kid, lol.

  12. jess says:

Good on you for getting more into vlogging and ticking off some goals!

  13. Look at you vlogging like a boss, kicking goals AND getting pictures with your favourite tennis stars! Love the pics – and the one of you and Mark, what a winning shot! (LOL – see what I did there?!)

  14. This is GOLD! Love, love, love those tennis snaps. Good on you! Also, ‘I must confess’ sounds like a great idea (and don’t worry about Henny Penny – we all have our weaknesses). P.S. you have a lovely voice.
