For all our fathers lost

Dedicated to all those fathers who cannot be here for Father’s Day

For all our fathers lost on Father's Day -

I miss you Dad.

I think about you every day. Not just today, for Father’s Day. But every day.

I wonder what you’d think about my latest escapade.

I wonder whether you would enjoy that funny story as much as I did.

I wonder how you would feel about the state of the world right now.

I hope you are happy and no longer in pain.

I hope you have been reunited with others that you love.

I hope you have found peace.

I know that my heart will be forever broken by your absence.

I know I wish things were different.

I know you do too.

I want you to know you are not forgotten.

I want you to know that we are all okay.

I want you to know that I’m alright.

You may not be here to touch, feel or hug. You may not be around to receive the handmade presents or the customary Father’s Day phone call today.

However, you are still my Dad. You are still here in my heart, however fragile it feels right now.

I may not be able to celebrate Father’s Day with you in person today but I still thank you for everything you ever did for me.

I thank you for your unconditional love, unwavering support and belief in me.

I thank you for trying so desperately hard to stay with us.

I thank you for being my role model and my guide through life.

You are not here today for Father’s Day but I am not fatherless, because I still have you.

Maybe you are not here to physically talk to, to touch and to see.

But you are always with me in my heart, whatever I do and wherever I am.

So here’s to a happy Father’s Day, to all our fathers lost.

Although they will never be lost to us in our hearts x
