Musical Musings A to Z: songs beginning with Z

Happy Easter my friends!

So here we are. After a myriad of stop starts we have finally reached the end of my musical quest through the alphabet. Welcome to post number 26 in my musical musings A to Z of songs and my final musical musings post for a little while.

It’s fitting its Easter and that I’m heading off on my adventure of a lifetime with the family next weekend. It’s a nice time to end my regular musical posts. I still reserve the right to chime in now and then with my thoughts but for now I think I’m done with my regular musical musings.

So let’s end this thing with a BANG. I can’t think of a better way than seeing out the series with zombies and with rioting care of Irish alternative rockers The Cranberries and the Cherry Popping Daddies.

Zombie – The Cranberries

I remember this song being HUGE when I was at uni. I didn’t love it at the time but it has grown on me through the years. The guitar riff throughout really hooks you in and the vocals in the bridge section are in your face – it does indeed get inside your head…

Zoot Suit Riot – Cherry Popping Daddies

A final musical confession. My introduction to this song was actually through Weird Al’s parody track Grapefruit Riot – it was years before I heard the original version! I love the energy in this but I will always hear Weird Al’s lyrics in the back of my mind even listening to the original. It’s a fun song!

So, for the final time, I ask you – what would you select as your picks for songs beginning with Z?

Thanks for playing along and for commenting and making lots of suggestions along the way. I’ve had a blast and I’ve been forced to go outside my comfort zone to discover new songs to love – which is a VERY good thing. You guys rock – thanks for listening x

Thanks Pinky – about time I finally finished it. I’m stubborn so there was no chance of quitting before I’d got to the end!
