Tag, You’re It!

Don’t you feel special when you’ve been tagged? I do. I was tagged yesterday by the lovely Zita from It’s Time as part of the Worth Casing Blog Award and I am looking forward to spreading the love further out into the blogosphere.

Worth Casing Blog Award

So what is the Worth Casing Blog Award?

The mysterious Ms Mystery Case has decided to let her Five in Five blog series out of captivity and run wild through the blogosphere as the Worth Casing Blog Award. Apart from finding out more about all our favourite bloggers, there is also a beneficial element to this series.

Link up your Five in Five post and you could be in the running to win six months of advertising on the Mystery Case site. If you are aware of how much traffic the site gets, you will understand just how good a prize this is!

How do the Worth Casing Blog Awards work?

  • Answer our Five in Five questions via a blog post.
  • Link back or mention the blogger that nominated you.
  • Nominate and inform five of your favourite worth casing bloggers.
  • GRAB the Worth Casing Blog Award for your blog post.
  • Head to Mystery Case and link up your Five in Five posts.

Easy!

So here are my answers to the Five in Five questions…

1. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I have blogged about this before but I started blogging on January 1 2011 as a spontaneous and not well thought out new years’ resolution. Three and a half years on, I’m still here!

2. If your wardrobe could talk what would it say about you and tell us about your favourite or most worn item?
My wardrobe loves it’s home but despairs of the tastes of its owner!

My wardrobe

I’m not fashionable and I tend to wear things again and again and again until they fall apart. I also don’t like a lot of prints or florals so my wardrobe includes quite a lot of flat colour, interspersed with many different varieties of stripes!

My favourite item is this very frothy and fun number (See? Plain but, thankfully, no stripes in sight!)

I have only worn it once but am hoping to get a chance to wear it again for the next special occasion.

3. What’s your idea of the perfect date night?
A perfect date night would involve dinner, drinks and a walk along the beach with my soulmate, Nathan, finished off with a hotel getaway. This would have to be followed by a lazy morning, complete with cooked breakfast and leisurely stroll around street markets or second hand stores.

4. What’s on your Worth Casing list?
With my last day of work only weeks away I need to trade in my corporate wear for some classy and comfortable casual attire. I’m hoping to find some reasonably priced dresses and skirts that can be dressed up or down as required. Any tips to refresh my wardrobe will be gratefully received!

5. If you had a theme song what would it be and why?
I’ve shared my theme song before – it’s aptly named Virtual Insanity by Jamiroquai. For obvious reasons!

My nominees

Here are the five bloggers (who I recently had the pleasure of meeting IRL!) I am passing the baton to – go forth and continue to spread the Worth Casing Blog Awards love!

Emily – You Learn Something New Every Day

Kimberley – Melbourne Mum

Eva – The Multitasking Mummy

Lisa – Lisa Berson/Mummy Manifesto

Bec – The Plumbette

Care to share a blog that you think is worth casing?

Because it’s Tuesday I’m linking up to Jess’ #IBOT – have a great day everyone!

  1. I was nodding my head when Zita nominated you and rather impressed with both your Five in Five and your nominees. Thanks for playing along!

    • Kirsty says:

It’s a great idea to send your Five in Five idea out into the blogosphere – I will be interested to see how it travels!

  2. Tegan says:

That dress is cute! Best and Less has a lot of nice stuff at the moment. I also find doing a layby helps me update my wardrobe without feeling like I’ve outlayed a huge amount of money.

    • Kirsty says:

It is a cute dress – I got that on special from Myer at the start of the year (I’m good at bargain shopping when I actually go out and shop!) I will have to check out Best and Less – I’ve heard a few people say their range is good at the moment. At least I’ll have some time on my hands soon!

  3. Thanks Kirsty for tagging me. I feel honoured and I’m glad I got to meet you and Nathan in person. I might be able to help you with the casual clothing style on my styling website Styled by Bec http://www.styledbybec.com.au/blog. Once I became a plumber and mum I had to update my wardrobe to include more casual attire. I’m excited to see where this new change will take you. 🙂

  4. I think my wardrobe and yours would get along. I also have lots of stripes but not many florals or prints, because they aren’t really my thing. I’ll get adventurous clothes wise one day…

    • Kirsty says:

Same here! I play it so safe when it comes to clothes. I have too many bad memories of being a child of the 70s and 80s and being dressed in the worst fashion of those eras…it tends to stay with you!!!

  5. Sarah Mac says:

Your date night and mine are very similar, a walk on the beach is a must for the perfect date for me. Love that dress, so pretty!

  6. How exciting you are on your last days of work!! Bet you can’t wait. Fantastic theme song, it’s one of my hubby’s favourite too!

  7. That was a fun post read. I love hearing about how long people have been blogging and their stories in starting out. Prior to having kids and in my working days I’ve always relished the feeling of finishing up working for an employer and the open possibilities of the future. All the best with your new adventures and journeys. Finally I had laughed when I read the comments above about your wardrobe above as a kid and talking about it now. My wardrobe is basically 95% vintage from the 1950’s – 1980’s there’s colour, florals, spots, stripes, geometrics, prints, craziness galore and more. I probably would have loved what you were dressed in as a kid ha ha ha ha.

  8. Lisa says:

Thanks for the tag Kirsty, Love your answers..I will have to think about the theme song. it has been ages since I heard some Jamiroquai. xx

  9. Zita says:

Hey Kirsty! I read your post during the week but seems I forgot to comment!! I think that dress looks super cute! My go to store for work and casual has been Katies lately! Lots of classic pieces that can be dressed up and down! I am so excited and can’t wait to hear more about your next step! Enjoy the process!
