I’ve shared before that I don’t get regular quality one-on-one time with my children. In between work, appointments, after school activities, housework and general life, it’s hard to eek out regular time alone with each of my little bears.
So, when I do get some time with them, I really try to soak it all up.
I’ve had the luxury of enjoying an hour a week with Gilbert this last term for speech sessions but it hasn’t been easy finding little pockets of time with the girls.
However that is about to change.
Delilah’s long time carer has decided to call it a day so we have been on the hunt for alternate caring arrangements. I’ve been able to secure a place for her on one of the days but I’ve been unsuccessful on the other.
So I’m readying myself for Delilah time!
As I’ve been having a day off a week from work I’m going to formalise this arrangement and have a day at home with my girl. And I can’t wait, if my time with her yesterday, is anything to go by.
Yesterday we headed off to see Peppa Pig Live! Treasure Hunt which is currently touring Australia. You may remember I ran a promotion back in May supporting Peppa Pig’s Friendship month and in return I was given complimentary tickets to the show.
Delilah was in heaven!
The show itself was enjoyable – perfect for the target preschool market. One of my highlights was the Bing Bong song (if you haven’t heard it before, beware, it’s an earworm…)
Delilah’s highlight was the opening hide and seek sequence and the ending where Peppa and her friends find the treasure.
Delilah enjoyed the stage show, although she thought Peppa’s dress needed to be less orange and more red (“it’s really Mummy Pig, you know, Peppa has a RED dress!”). And at first she was confused at the puppet characters and their handlers being on stage, in place of the cartoon characters that she knows and loves.
But it was truly beautiful to watch her joy throughout the performance and her growing interest in the story as it unfolded before us. If you get the chance to go, I can highly recommend it as a wonderful outing with your little ones.
Just beware the power of the merchandise stall and pleading blue eyes…
I’m so thankful for having some quality time with my girl and so looking forward to having more time together in the future.
What are you thankful for this week?
Sharing my thanks with Sarah at Creating Contentment for Thankful Thursday!
