Musical Musings A to Z: Songs Beginning with B

I was really pleasantly surprised with the response to the reboot of my musical musings A to Z posts last week. I relish putting these posts together so it’s great that others are enjoying them too!

Being week 2, we have reached B and I’m focusing on songs that I haven’t featured before on the blog. As I’ve been regularly featuring songs on the blog for a few years now I know this is going to be a real challenge moving forward. But I’m more than ready for it!

So it’s fitting that my first song for this week mirrors my battle cry – bring it on!

Bring it On – Seal

I love Seal’s early music. His voice is divine and most of the songs haven’t dated in the 20 years since their release. Bring it On, together with Crazy and If I Could are my favourites from this era. Not surprisingly I love the bass in the song – who would have guessed?

Breathe – Kylie Minogue

Sticking to an unintentional 90s vibe this week, Breathe is sultry and rhythmic with a great bass line. I love the way the bass kicks in halfway through the verse to drive the song into the chorus – yes I am totally addicted to bass!

Again, I’d love to know what you would have picked for your B songs – there are literally so many to choose from out there and I know I could have picked from a dozen more.

That’s why I love the endless challenge of my musical musings posts – it never gets boring!

Spread the positivity!

  1. Ooh, these are great choices, Kirsty!
How about Baby It’s You by Promises? Yes, you probably haven’t even heard of it, because it’s OLD (1978)!! But I really wanted to be that singer when I used to watch it on Countdown, and if I ever hear it now, it brings back lots of teenage memories. 🙂

  5. I love Kylie’s music from around that time. Breathe is a gorgeous song. I also like Breathe by George because it usually reminds me to do just that! I’d have to list Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black as another great B song. It’s a great, cathartic song to sing in the car 🙂

  6. I once read an interview with a musician (can’t remember who) who stored his music collection alphabetically by artist. He was told that he had been broken into and that some of his collection had been stolen. His instant response was: “I hope it’s not the Bs!” A long discourse about great musical acts starting with Bs ensued.

Hope you are feeling better, by the way.

Great idea! I love that Kylie song too. Awesome. I can’t think of any B songs right now, even though I’m racking my brain… Cheers for linking this week. Robo X
