I Must Confess…Bad Photos of Me

Another Monday, another confession. And this one is a doozy – I wonder how many others will be brave enough to share bad photos of themselves?

I have mulling over this topic for a while, ever since I got my passport photo. In fact, 2013 was a stellar year as far as getting crap photos go. I applied for a passport (always assured of being unflattering) plus I recently had to renew my drivers licence too – yippee, another chance to look less than my best.

And soon I have to have my work pass and accompanying photo renewed as well – I suspect that will be as bad, if not worse, than the others!

What is the deal with not being able to smile in any sort of official photo? Will I really have to look like I’m feeling constipated for the next 10 years? Or, for those who can remember back that far, will I have to look like Noelene from Sylvania Waters until 2023?

And ready for any future mug shot on my licence!

But I can’t blame bureaucracy for all my bad photos. My lovely husband, Nathan, is also very good at catching me at the most unflattering of moments…

And, then there’s the unfortunate selfies that I can’t blame anyone else but myself for…

  1. Actually whenever I’ve looked at your photo I’ve always thought you look like a young Greta Scacchi. Can I please ask if anyone has had problems with their site lately? I’m trying to figure out if there is a glitch with Chrome or our Internet. My Facebook link isn’t showing up. Hope you don’t mind me asking Greta… I mean Kirsty 🙂

I couldn’t log into my site this morning, I switched my computer off, had a cup of coffee and all returned to normal 🙂

    • Kirsty says:

Thanks Pinky – I will take that as a definite compliment! I was having lots of trouble commenting on blogs last week – who knows what is going on lately…

Oh love, you had me at Sylvania Waters!!! Look … I have worse. Dozens and dozens. I’m busily scrambling to get something finished that’s already overdue, but later on I’m up to the challenge of sharing them with the world! Hahahahaha!

    • Kirsty says:

I remember being mesmerised by Sylvania Waters – in a horrified way! The first Aussie reality TV series – wonder where they all are now?

  3. Zita says:

I saw that pic of you from the tennis and actually really liked it! Sometimes I think we are our own worst critics!!

    • Kirsty says:

Thanks Zita. I look tired because I was tired but you are right, we are normally our own worst critic. BTW I really like the photo you shared today as you looked incredibly happy!

  4. Jaz says:

I don’t think passport or licence photos are good for anyone! I had passport photos taken when I was in a foul mood and I look positively evil! Thanks for a great theme this week x

    • Kirsty says:

Most of them look like mug shots, don’t they? I just had to laugh with the timing of getting them all in the one year – at least that’s all over and done with for at least 5 years now!!

  5. Tegan says:

I actually managed to get a decent photo for my 18+ card and was quite happy with it. Then I lost it..and my current one makes me look like I am ready to punch on!

  6. Well I’ve linked up. lol Now I’m wondering if you have a database or a list of all your confessional prompts so far? Because after this week, I’m wanting to suggest a few less painful topics but as I joined I must confess midway (I think) I’m not sure what has and hasn’t been covered.

    • Kirsty says:

There is a list on the I Must Confess page but I haven’t updated that for a while – it’s now on my to-do list. But don’t hesitate to suggest a topic anyway as I’m always looking for new ideas. And don’t worry if it has been covered before as I have revisited some from the early days as there weren’t too many takers back then 😉

  7. Very Brave Kirsty!
I had to chuckle though. Did you realise that in all those pics you are wearing a red and white striped shirt?

    • Kirsty says:

I know – I have a serious fashion problem 😉 I can assure you though, my wardrobe is not completely full of red striped shirts, despite what those photos indicate!!!

  8. Lee-Anne says:

This sounds like a fun challenge Kirsty, though I’m not sure I’m quite brave enough to share…
My favs are your mugshot and that one where you’re cleaning up on Christmas Day – hilarious! (you still look pretty in all of them, so don’t stress:)

Thanks Lee-Anne! I Must Confess happens every Monday – hopefully you’ll be able to join in on a safer topic sometime 🙂

  9. I actually don’t think you look too bad in any of those photos Kirsty! You’ve inspired me – even though I didn’t confess my bad photos this week I think I’ll be doing a similar post in the near future. First horrible photo will be of me in Grade 3 with my revolting Coke bottle bottom glasses – yechhh!

  10. I have to say Kirsty that these could be WAY worse, I have some shockers with double chins, my HUGE nose looking even worse. You are too hard on your lovely self, well except for the Christmas one, that is kinda the worst one xx
