52 Weeks of Memories
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I am a pretty ordinary photographer – to be honest I am completely crap at taking photos.
I’ve lost count of the number of photos I’ve taken with a bit of my finger in the top corner, or with the subject out of focus or with heads cut off. I think I am too impatient to take a measured and still and focused picture.
In an effort to improve my skill I tried the photo a day challenge but I really struggled to remember what the prompt was for each day, let alone take a photo to match. But I do want to take more photos and practice taking my time and making memories.
Which is why, despite being a few weeks late, I’m joining in with Toni from Finding Myself Young’s 52 Weeks of Memories prompt.
Today I’m going to catch up on weeks 1 to 3 with the prompts of new, sleeping and play.
We were lucky enough to welcome in the new year in a new country, New Zealand. For the first time ever the kids stayed up until midnight when we were treated to fireworks from the top of Skytower. It was a new experience at the start of a new year while we were on a new adventure overseas. So it’s fitting to share a photo from that night:
Sometimes my very busy and independent three year old, Delilah, can be very resistant to sleep. It’s almost as if she scoffs at the idea that sleep is necessary at all – why, it cuts into very valuable exploration and play time! So when she finally succumbs and falls into slumber she looks angelic and adorable – like she does here:
I love watching my three little bears play. Especially when they happen to be playing amicably. It can be very rare to see them in harmony with each other and enjoying each other’s company so I soak it up when I can. One of our best experiences in New Zealand was visiting the very interactive Carter Observatory in Wellington. Here the kids are exploring the space module and having fun discovering all the activities hidden throughout – they had a ball!
I have really enjoyed taking photos to capture those precious memories and I’m hoping to join in with Toni each week for the rest of 2014 – will you?
