I Must Confess…I Love Holidays!

I know this is a very obvious confession – seriously, the greater confession would be if I DIDN’T love holidays, wouldn’t it?

But as we hurtle towards the end of 2013 and enter the season for holidays I thought it would be fun to get us all in the mood early by sharing our favourite holiday experiences and, of course, the obligatory happy snaps.

We are currently getting ready for our first overseas holiday as a family to New Zealand, a few days after Christmas. I’m hoping to be able to bore you with LOTS of holiday snaps on our return, just like some of our previously blogged jaunts…

Like the time we went to Gerroa for a family getaway with the rest of the immediate Russell clan:

Or our last holiday up at our kids’ all-time favourite destination, Hallidays Point:

Jumping Pillow Fun

Or even my trip down memory lane when I revisited my first ever overseas odyssey as a teenager:

But there is one very special vacation that I have not yet shared with you – my honeymoon! Nathan and I were lucky enough to visit magical Paris and London for our bridal tour back in 2000 because, ironically, in the aftermath of the Sydney Olympics home grown destinations were as costly as heading off to the other side of the world.

But, I must confess, we really didn’t need much convincing…!

Here are some of the memories captured on that whirlwind trip 13 years ago:

OK – what has been your favourite holiday destination? And where would you love to travel to next?

Confess, share, comment and enjoy – that’s what I Must Confess is all about!

  1. Now I must confess, I’m so desperately in need of a ‘real’ holiday well any holiday that the green eyed monster has appeared and I struggled to read your post.

We were supposed to be heading off to Bali for ten days (in ten days time) but hubby’s work had other ideas. They do every year. We have the option to drive over but we need to do up our house and not sure this is a good time to disturb tenants. I should offer to house sit for you. lol

    Love next week’s prompt.

  2. I am desperate to go to Hawaii to see lava fall into the ocean and all the beauty of Big Island. Alas, too costly, so our next holiday is the Barossa – very excited as haven’t been, but worried it might be HOT!
As for favourite, you can not go past France for wonderful, and Paris is magnificient. You could not have chosen a better honeymoon destination…*wistful sigh*

It was a magical honeymoon. Now I would love to go to Hawaii too to see lava fall into the ocean – that would be seriously cool! One day we will both compare notes on that particular experience Lydia!

Hands down my fave holiday has been with my husband to Europe. We did London (and outskirts w/ friends), Paris, Florence, Rome, Zurich and home (to the US at that point). It was made all that more magical by finding out that I was pregnant while we were in Rome! This year though, I’m really looking forward to my “staycation” at home with Mr N. Just over 2 weeks! It will be heaven! x

We were very lucky for our honeymoon – any other time and we would not have had the guts to have gone that far. Thank goodness for the Olympics making everything in Australia so expensive back in 2000!

  5. So jealous of your honeymoon trip! Neither hubby or I have been to Europe but we do hope to resolve that in the next couple of years …

We’ve been on a couple of cruises (to Noumea/Vanuatu, and New Zealand) and they were great holidays. NZ is a fantastic place to, you will have an awesome time!

Soooo many places I’d love to go but these days – on the go with two little rugrats – my daydreams are of a lazy beach holiday, looking out onto beautiful blue seas and nothing but the arduous decision of which cocktail to partake of next…

We are heading to the gold coast this wkd with hubby’s crazy family – not our dream destination – but I’ll take it nonetheless. There will be lots of wine 🙂

Have a FABULOUS time in NZ!!!

I will definitely let you know how we go. Fingers crossed we can get Gilbert more excited before we leave – I’m certainly not looking forward to our time away if he’s not more on board with it…
