I Must Confess…the Soundtrack of my Life
Happy public holiday everyone! I know I’m pleased to have an extra day to get myself ready before I head back into the whirl of work and school. I have really enjoyed a slower pace over the last week of the school holidays.
I have to apologise for being so tardy in getting around to everyone’s posts last week. I normally try really hard to get there every Monday as I appreciate the time and effort you guys make in linking up – your support really is important to me.
However, I spent most of last week cultivating a new intimacy with my ensuite (a week-long bout of gastro – a WEEK people!) which just threw me for a six.
Combine that with the regular demands of the school holidays (i.e. endlessly bored children) and I really struggled to get back on track. So please accept my apologies for being a sub-standard host last week – I promise to make it up to you guys today!
This week’s I Must Confess prompt asks us to share the songs that best represent the soundtrack of our lives. I set a random number of 10 (being an old school CD length) but you can really share as many or as little as you like.
Music is a vital part of who I am. I studied music at school, learnt the piano and double bass in my younger years, sang in a choir and have spent many hours listening and dancing to my favourites in the car or around the house.
Music is really very important to me – I can’t imagine a life without it. The fact I post a music related post every Sunday is testament to this, I guess.
I also believe that a person’s musical preferences and tastes can tell you a bit more about them. That’s why I’m so interested to find out what music best represents YOU.
To kick things off, here’s a list of the soundtrack of my life. If you haven’t heard of some of them go on and check them out as they may just give you another view into my life…
Jamiroquai – Virtual Insanity (my favourite band and a song with a title that sums up my life perfectly!)
Lenny Kravitz – Thinking of You (poignantly beautiful – I want this played at my funeral)
The Brand New Heavies – Sometimes (a cool, smooth song, again with a title very relevant to me!)
Lisa Stansfield – Change (powerful – I certainly wouldn’t change a thing about my life)
Etta James – At Last (beautiful and amazingly romantic – my love story was definitely worth the wait)
New Radicals – You Get What You Give (a fun song featuring my new life mantra 🙂 )
Beyonce – Love on Top (celebrating life and love with some old school funk!)
Maroon 5 – Moves Like Jagger (yes, I do believe I have the moves like Jagger in the privacy of my own home…)
Robbie Williams & Kylie Minogue – Kids (lots of fun, danceable and hot – like me! 😉 )
Moloko – Sing It Back (life would not be half as sweet without music, singing and dance)
As you can see, I prefer danceable, upbeat and positive music, with some hauntingly beautiful tracks thrown in for good measure. I think my musical tastes complement my personality – naturally sunny but with a dark streak under the surface.
So, what about you. What does your soundtrack sound like? Or are you planning on making an entirely different confession of your own?
