Musical Musings A to Z: S is for Swoop and Simply Red

Hi there! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve played some of my favourite music on the blog and in that time I’ve moved house and dealt with everything that comes with that. It’s been pretty crazy. But thankfully, we’re now more settled and I have managed to find some time to blog – yay!

So now I can finally get back into my musical journey through the alphabet – check out this link to discover how I have travelled the musical alphabet, so far.

This week brings us to S and I have found it pretty much impossible to separate two of my favourite S bands – Australian funk act Swoop and British pop/soul legends, Simply Red. So I have decided to go with both.

I had the pleasure of seeing Swoop live in my university days and the energy that infects their songs was even more evident on stage.

It was impossible not to dance and sing along to their classics and I have included two of my favourites below:

Do It

It Could Happen Any Day Now

Simply Red are one of my favourite bands of all time. Mick Hucknall and his bandmates were able to move from soul to pop to dance to R&B and to ballads effortlessly. And  I pretty much love it all.

For me, they are always a joy to listen to and it was extremely difficult to narrow my selections down and share the two songs that I am featuring today!

Something Got Me Started

If You Don’t Know Me By Now

As always I would love to know who would have been your picks as your S artist. Again, there are so many amazing artists to choose from – hence my problem with narrowing down my own choices today!

I hope you can come back again and join in with the fun as I speed towards the end of my alphabet quest – it should be an interesting ride!
