Musical Musings A to Z: L is for Lisa Stansfield

It seems I’m speeding through the alphabet at the moment – I can’t believe that I am up to L already!

To catch up on my previous musical musings feel free to check out some of my earlier links below:

A is for Rick Astley

B is for Ben Folds Five

C is for Cake

D is for Doobie Brothers

E is for En Vogue and Eternal

F is for Aretha Franklin

G is for Garbage

H is for Hall & Oates

I is for INXS

J is for Michael Jackson

K is for Lenny Kravitz

On to my L artist, Lisa Stansfield.  Lisa is a British soul singer who burst onto the charts in 1989 with “All Around the World.” I vividly remember being utterly captured by this song, by her look and by her incredible voice. She didn’t do much more here in Australia after that but she has since had a long career in the UK and Europe.

She has an amazing voice and can do pop and soul equally well. I have included my two favourites today that still get regular rotation on my iPhone!

All Around the World

Her first hit from her debut album “Affection.” It looks very dated now but I remember wanting to be just like her when I was 14 – yes, complete with orange lips and short hair!

Change

This was the biggest hit from her second album “Real Love”. Just so sultry and cool and soulful – I seriously love this song.

What would you have picked as your L artist?

Hope you can join me next time as I continue along my musical odyssey through the alphabet!

Spread the positivity!
