I Must Confess…My Perfect Day
Hey there friends, it’s time for another round of revelations, confessions and truths as part of the weekly I Must Confess linkup. You are welcome to link up a post that’s old or new, provided it deals with a confession of some kind. And remember, the linkup is open all week so it you’re stuck for an idea now, you can sit back until inspiration strikes. Easy!
This week’s prompt asks you to share your perfect day. I think we all have some idea of what we might like to do if we had the chance to experience our ideal day. The problem might lie more in how to narrow all our options down!
My perfect day might seem deceptively simple, but it still remains a dream to us. I just want to be able to spend a relaxed and enjoyable day with my family, socialise with friends and then spend a child-free evening with my husband. This might all sound very easy for most people but it can be immensely difficult for us to achieve under normal circumstances.
With kids on the autism spectrum, simple things like going out and experiencing new things can be a real struggle. Gilbert has social anxiety so he tends to want to stay at home and not go out and about too much while the girls do enjoy doing new things. Therefore balancing their various preferences and needs can be very tricky…
Personally, I can’t think of anything better than spending a morning out and about with the kids at a zoo or an aquarium. I would love to spend time with them, learning and experiencing new things together – there’s nothing like seeing that look of wonder or awe on the face of your kids, is there?
It would be even better if the outing could be relaxed and meltdown free and see us all coming home with smiles on our faces and joy in our hearts – that would indeed be a perfect day!
The day would then continue with a leisurely lunch with friends, maybe around a BBQ with fresh salads and some lovely white wine. I am a social being at heart and I don’t often get the chance to catch up with friends so that would have to be a part of my perfect day. It would be so good to sit still, relax and have the chance to really listen and enjoy the companionship of old friends.
After seeing our friends off and settling the kids for the evening, I can think of no better way of ending my perfect day than having a night out with Nathan. It would, of course, involve dressing up, a fancy dinner and maybe a movie in gold class before spending a night away from home in a luxurious hotel. How good would that be, ending my perfect day with a full night’s sleep?
Believe me, it would be bliss…
What would your perfect day look like? I would love to know. Remember, the linkup is live all week and you can confess to something old or new – take it from me, you will feel better for getting it off your chest!
