Wordless Wednesday – The Zoo Snooze

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to accompany my son’s class on a Zoo Snooze excursion last week to Sydney’s Taronga Park Zoo. We got to enjoy some up close and personal encounters, a night walk, sleepover and behind the scenes tours before the zoo opened.

It was quite simply an incredible experience – I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. It was inspiring and touching and fascinating – I can’t remember the last time I was so enthralled.

And it was so special to have shared the experience with my son. Sure, he preferred star gazing to the night-time animal encounters but it was an awesome experience all the same!

Here are some of the amazing things we were lucky enough to experience – sorry for the not-so-wordless Wednesday!

Looks like an amazing stay. I haven’t been to Taronga Zoo since I was very little but I still remember the giraffes like yesterday.

    • Kirsty says:

They are iconic, aren’t they Rachel? I didn’t expect to enjoy myself quite so much which seemed to enhance my experience even more. Going around the zoo at night was an experience I will never forget!

I was always reluctant to go with my kids, for various reasons, but I’m seriously considering going back as a family these upcoming holidays. It really is an awesome place for kids (and for parents too!)

  10. I did a zoo sleepover with a class at the Perth zoo. They walk the old elephant in the morning and the kids and me were just enamored by her!

    • Kirsty says:

It’s such a special feeling to see all the behind the scenes stuff. We saw them training some dogs for a new show they are getting ready for the upcoming school holidays – it was incredible learning all the steps in the training – I loved it!
