Three

My baby girl turned three on the weekend. Three.

I’m still trying to work out how that happened…

Delilah doesn’t look like a three year old. Her diminutive stature and wispy hair makes her look more like an eighteen month old. Maybe as her mother I am biased but she certainly doesn’t look like a three year old to me!

But three she is. And just to ram that truth home, she is starting at preschool later this week too. I can’t quite believe that either, to be honest!

Delilah is a joy. She is clever, precocious and curious. She is always busy, so, so busy. She is fiercely independent yet highly protective and caring of her big brother and sister.

Delilah is loving, imaginative and innately entertaining. She makes it very difficult for me not to laugh when I should be giving her the evil eye – even her tantrums usually amuse me!

Although the attitude is ramping up and she is beginning to really push the boundaries here at home, she remains a sunny and good-natured little girl. We have been truly blessed to have her in our family. I can’t wait to see how she grows and develops and matures.

To my three year old princess – we love you very much. You have enriched our lives more than we could have ever imagined and we are very lucky to have you in our family. Whatever the future brings, know that you are loved and adored. And remember, you will always be our baby girl.

You are so right there Deb – 3 is a very interesting age. But while the desire for independence can be exhausting, the snuggles are so completely worth it!

Too cute – and happy birthday. I have a 4 year old who looks about 2. People always are surpised when they ask. The hair is part of it, and also size…it’s strange isn’t it?

  4. Kirsty, I just found your blog and will certainly be back! Enjoy the birthday celebrations 🙂

Our Master 12 has dyslexia and seeing your pages on albinism and autism are inspiring me. One of the greatest struggles for me has been finding information and what supports are out there, so my blog is a great place to offer resources to other Mums.

And I just might see you at “I must confess”. 🙂

    • Kirsty says:

I didn’t really think her turning three would affect me so much. But then you throw in a move to a big bed and the start of preschool and three takes on a deeper meaning. But she will always be my baby, regardless of her age!
