I Must Confess…we have WAY too many iDevices

Happy Easter Monday everyone! I hope you have had the chance to enjoy a lovely long weekend and have had the opportunity to consume way too much chocolate and hot cross buns for your own good… 🙂

Monday means it’s confession time here at My Home Truths. We welcome all sorts of secrets, revelations and funny stories as part of the linkup – so if you have an old or new confession to share, feel free to link it up here. And don’t feel pressure to linkup right now if you are not ready as the linkup remains open all week.

Also, don’t worry if you feel you don’t have something of your own to share as I set a prompt each week to help us all along. This week’s prompt asks us to look at just how many devices we have and how we use them. I suspect I will not be the only one who may need some sort of iIntervention…

As you read this, imagine you are singing along to the tune of the 12 Days of Christmas. Except that it’s Easter and I only go up to 5. Which might not seem that bad, but I suspect that it still really is…

Okay – here goes…

On the first day of Easter, my true love gave to me…1 Apple iMac desktop.

On the second day of Easter, my true love gave to me…2 laptops and 1 Apple iMac desktop.

And that just accounts mainly for the iDevices! Perhaps an iIntervention is in order after all?

We regularly use the desktop and the laptops for blogging, web surfing and homework purposes and are daily users of our iPhones and iPads as well. The kids love their iPod Touches and use the iPads on a regular basis too – they are a real sanity saver on car trips and help keep the kids occupied while waiting at appointments and during after school activities.

So now you know how many devices we own, I would love for you to tell me that you also have lots of devices too, even if you are lying to make me feel better! Or, if you are worried about disclosing your assets and thus encouraging burglars to case your house, you can make any sort of confession you like. It’s entirely up to you!

By now, you should know what to do – make your confession, link up and cleanse your soul!

The Rules…

I must confess with My Home Truths

– I Must Confess is a link up that will be happening every Monday and will remain live for the whole week.

– You can link up something old or new, we’re not fussy around here.

– Feel free to go with the prompt for the week or add your own confession, whatever suits.

– Please go forth and share the comment love – it is bloggy crack after all!

Next week’s confession prompt – what is guaranteed to make you cry?

Not on topic this week, although I probably think a device audit should be on the cards and soon.

Have a great week, not sure I want to think about what makes me cry for next week. xx

I think we could all do with a device audit Raychael…this exercise was quite an eye opener for me! For next week, I’m going to talk about the slightly odd things that make me cry, like certain kids movies and odd occasions – I’m going to try to have a little fun with it but don’t feel that you have to participate if you don’t feel up to it 🙂

  2. I must confess I don’t think there is such a thing as too many iDevices! We have an iMac, 4 iPhones (a 3g that Nick uses as an iPod, 2 iPhone 4s that are ours, and we just got my sister’s old iPhone 4 when she upgraded to the 5 so that we can upgrade Nick’s 3g b/c it won’t put a lot of the apps he wants to play on it). An iPad. we had 2 iPods but mine got stolen out of my car. 🙁 Hmmm, think that’s it? It’s still a lot! Wish I had a new iPod and a macbook too!

I’m so pleased I’m not the only one with an excess of iDevices…we pretty much use them all but when I listed them down I was a little surprised at how many we actually had! I suppose you are right, you can never have too many 😉 Thanks for linking up again Aroha!

  3. Zita says:

I’m with Aroha, I am not sure you can have too many! lol…Especially when it comes to kids and then I think they are probably sanity saving devices anyway!

  15. Lydia C. Lee says:

I already struggle with the disconnectedness to the real world that the connectedness causes, but I’ve recently read about the conflict minerals used in making these products. Just to add to the guilt…I use the laptop daily and iphone ever 2 seconds. And I hate myself for it.

    • Kirsty says:

I know we use these things way more than we should and that makes me feel guilty pretty much all the time. I’m afraid I just don’t have anymore space for anymore guilt…

  16. Very impressive! I took a while to get on the i-wagon, so we only have an i-phone, but am getting an i-pad next week… the addiction begins 😉

Jane, you will be instantly addicted! BTW the iPad is such a great tool for kids on the spectrum. There are so many apps that you can download and it helps my kids when they are feeling overwhelmed when we are out and about. Soon, you will have a collection of iThings, just like us…! 🙂

  17. iSophie says:

This is great! We have alot.. but maybe.. not that much? Hm. I think it’s too scary to count up!

I so very nearly didn’t post this Sophie, particularly when I wrote it all down and realised just how much we had! But I feel better for putting it out there and finding that I am not the only one with an iAddiction!

  18. Grace says:

It’s funny how we just don’t realise the gradual growth of iDevices in our home! We’ve got 2 iPads, 1 Macbook Pro, 1 iMac and a Blackberry. And this is just a family of 2 adults and 2 3 year olds!
