Musical Musings A to Z: E is for En Vogue & Eternal

This week I am continuing along on my alphabet journey, featuring some of my favourite artists. If you are interested in catching up on my journey so far, here are my first 4 posts in this series:

A is for Rick Astley

B is for Ben Folds Five

C is for Cake

D is for Doobie Brothers

I’m returning to the 90’s this week and rectifying the rather glaringly obvious (yet unintentional!) gender imbalance in my list so far.

En Vogue and Eternal were among the first girl bands of the 90s, before the Spice Girls in their manufactured glory and Beyonce and the mega Destiny’s Child.

En Vogue were an American vocal group who formed 1989 while Eternal were their UK counterpart, forming 3 years later in 1992. Together they provided the soundtrack to my senior high school years and today I’m sharing my favourite song from each group.

My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It) – En Vogue

This song makes me want to DANCE. And wear a sparkly dress with sequins (seriously). Oh, and sing a capella. In other words, this song really gets me going!

Stay – Eternal

This is one of my all-time favourite songs. The harmonies are great and the classic 90’s R&B melody is awesome. It just has a funky vibe that I could listen to again and again and again.

Here’s to E for En Vogue and for Eternal – make sure you come back next week to continue on my musical alphabet quest!

As it’s Sunday, I am linking up with Cate from Life Behind the Purple Door for the Sunday Session – go on and check out the other music posts linked up there this week!

You know me too well 🙂 But I do like some alternative stuff on the side, even though my first love is fluffy pop!

Oh yeah, I loved both of these songs!
    Great choices!! 🙂

We do have similar tastes Thea and it had been a few weeks since I had any of my beloved 90’s tunes on the blog – it was time to bring the awesomeness back!

Must be something about early 90s music. I remember dancing to this sort of music a lot back then.

I love the 90’s – I could do a whole alphabet journey on 90’s music alone but I am trying to keep it a little balanced!
