Musical Musings – Something New

As you have probably guessed by now, I am a creature of habit and I cling to music and songs that I know and love.

I’m sure I’ll still be listening to the best of the 90’s when I’m old and grey and in a nursing home. I can see it now, I’ll be nodding along to MC Hammer in my wheelchair – blue rinse Hammer Time!

But I do occasionally find something new to love and add to my collection. Which proves that I’m not over the hill just yet or ready to chuck it all in for Easy FM.

I have recently discovered the music of Daley, a British singer-songwriter who has an amazing voice that is so suited to the old-school R&B/soul tunes he revels in.

He has released an EP, Those Who Wait, and will be releasing his first full album later this year. I, for one, will be awaiting the release of his debut album with great interest.

Daley – Remember Me ft. Jessie J

This funky number was my introduction to the music of Daley. I saw him perform this on a recent episode of Alan Carr: Chatty Man and I was so struck by it that I had to check out his other songs straight away. I think it was love at first sight (for me, not so much for him!)

Daley – Alone Together ft. Marsha Ambrosius

This is a very soulful tune which strongly reminds me of the early R&B ballads of the 90’s that I spent hours studying to. This reminder of my long lost youth is probably one of the reasons I like it so much!

Daley – “Climax” (Usher Cover)

Here Daley uses his fantastic voice to great effect in this classic old school R&B track.

Daley – Game Over

This is another smooth track with a toe tapping beat and soulful tones – I could listen to this one, over and over again.

I hope you enjoyed discovering the smooth R&B soul of Daley as much as I did.

Happy Sunday to each and every one of you!

I saw him on Chatty Man too Kirsty – it was very good.

I’m also loving his ‘look’. I quite like his specs although I don’t think I could get away with them.

Well you might just get away with the specs – but please don’t attempt the hair! I think he’s channeling a little too much 80’s with that hairstyle…;)
