I Must Confess…My Top 5 Favourite Movies

Hello all and welcome to another week of secrets shared and lessons learned care of the I Must Confess linkup.

First, a shout out to the brave souls who confessed last week – Aroha from Colours of Sunset, Rhianna from A Parenting Life, Emily from Have a Laugh on Me and Nathan from Just Add Geek. Thanks for being brave and ‘fessing up!

Second, before we get to the main confession of the day, the prompt Top 5 Favourite Movies, a couple of extras from me.

Confession #1 – you may not be aware that Just Add Geek is my husband’s blog. Technically it’s our combined one but I have been a slack contributor and he has been holding the fort beautifully.

I feel I need to get this one out there so you understand my apprehension that he plans to join in with I Must Confess again this week. After all, his confessions may very well be my confessions too…oh the perils of being married bloggers!

Having said that you should check his blog out – really, you should!

Confession #2 – last November I ran a Disney Live! promotion where I gave away tickets to one of the Newcastle shows. At the time I disclosed that I had not received anything in return for running the giveaway, which at that time, was true.

Last week I was offered complimentary tickets to the show from the PR company I worked with on the promotion, which I accepted. I will be editing the relevant posts to disclose that I did, in the end, receive complimentary tickets but I wanted to fully disclose that here as well.

Disclosure is justifiably a big issue in the blogging world at the moment and I would hate to be seen to have done the wrong thing to you all.

Now those are off my chest, let’s get to the main confession for this week – my top 5 movies.

I had heaps of trouble with this one – did any of you?  I like so many movies, across so many genres, that I struggled to identify my ultimate all-time top 5.

Should I go with my 5 favourite romantic comedies? My 5 favourite disaster movies? My top 5 movies featuring Hugh Grant?

What’s a girl to do?

Well, if you’re like me and cannot make a decision to save their life, you cheat and make multiple lists, that’s what you do!

So here’s my top  5 romantic comedies (I’m such a romantic at heart!):

Love Actually

Bridget Jones’ Diary

The Wedding Planner

While You Were Sleeping

Two Weeks Notice

And my top 5 disaster movies (love the build up to the disaster as well as the disaster itself – yeah, I’m a bit odd):

The Core

Independence Day

Dante’s Peak

The Day After Tomorrow

2012

Together with my top 5 Hugh Grant movies (he of the floppy hair and verbal incontinence – swoon):

Two Weeks Notice

Bridget Jones’ Diary

Notting Hill

Four Weddings and a Funeral

Music and Lyrics

Phew…

So are you going to go with the prompt for this week or are you planning on making your own confession?

Believe me, you will feel instantly better for just getting it off your chest – I promise!

The Rules…

– I Must Confess is a link up that will be happening every Monday and will remain live for the whole week.

– You can link up something old or new, we’re not fussy around here.

– Please go forth and share the comment love – it is bloggy crack after all!

Next week’s confession prompt – 10 things we may not know about you…

Thanks for hosting, and I already love the prompt for next week, I wonder what ten things I haven’t already shared about myself…

I really enjoyed your post Rhi – very honest and true, plus I love the bag – I think you owe it to yourself to give it a test drive before you go…!

You’ve got to love Hugh! Now I’m on holidays I might have to watch some of my faves all over again.

      Thanks again for linking up!

      • I love me some Hugh, too! I don’t think there’s a movie of his I *don’t* like! He is dreeeeeamy! I think my favourite romantic comedy may be You’ve Got Mail. Love Meg and Tom!

I forgot about Meg and Tom – how could I? You’ve Got Mail is awesome, reminds me of great movies like The Philadelphia Story, the template for all the best romantic comedies. Thanks for linking up again Aroha!

I’m pleased that you were able to get that off your chest. I understand the stress that comes with having family stay and the sense of relief when you have your house and life back again when they leave, regardless of how much you might love and respect them. Enjoy the serenity!

  3. Emily says:

I’m pretty excited to find out that Nathan is your hubby, will get reading his blog when I have time this arvo. Silly me didn’t see the confession prompt, wish I had though, then I wouldn’t have had to spill my guts! Mind you it’s probably not a bad thing to get it off my chest! Happy Monday Kirsty! Emily

    • Kirsty says:

I loved your confession today Emily! I can relate to pretty much most of your posts, so I say go with the prompt when you need to but feel free to “spill your guts” when you feel the need to get something off your chest.

I have a feeling that we’d have a pretty interesting time if we were ever in the same room together – we may have to make that happen sometime!

  4. Janet says:

    Yes, all good movies 🙂

My hubster is threatening to get a Facebook page – like you I am just a bit nervous about this!

Hahaha! My husband has been blogging longer than me but more in the game design realm so I’m still getting used to seeing him around here. I got the shock of my life when I saw he had linked up last week. I was pleased to have him link up but I have to admit I was also a little scared about what he was going to confess to…! Thanks for linking up too Janet, I loved your post and the good memories it helped bring back for me!

  5. Nathan says:

How could you! Now when I talk about “My wife” and beg people to “Please don’t tell my wife”, they will know exactly who I am talking about! I will never get away with anything ever again! Ahhhg!
Oooh. That was quite a lot of exclamation marks. Sorry about that. You are lucky that we have similar tastes in movies. Or maybe I am lucky…

    • Kirsty says:

Well, I had to out you – it’s called disclosure. And I thought my job as your wife was to take all your fun away anyway – if so, I was just doing my job…

And yes, you are lucky! 😉

  6. gawee says:

Good choice of movies Kirsty. And here I was worried that I got my list down to six – still better than a certain someone who could only get down to fifteen!!

LOL. Good idea though picking themed lists. Not good for me though, I’d have come up with several lists I’m sure!

I know I’m naughty. But I have an equal love of romantic comedies and of disaster movies and of Hugh Grant – I found it impossible to decide! I did enjoy your list G, at least you got it down to 6…good work and thanks so much for linking up!
