On being tagged, awarded and tagging some more…

Oh, my friends, it has been a BIG week. Big in real life and online too.

In real life I’ve shopped for my secret santa, ready to be posted overseas today. I’ve travelled to Sydney for work, bought and taken back potential gifts for my family and received word that our land has finally been registered, paving the way for us to commence our build.

It’s going to be a big weekend too. Today I’m attending the kids’ christmas pageant and fete at school, tomorrow we’re heading to the races for a work function before taking the kids to our local Carols by Candlelight and on Sunday we’re going to get our Santa photo done.

I’m quite frankly exhausted just reading that!

Online, I’ve been tagged and awarded and asked to pass on the tag and the award to other bloggers too.

I was given my first ever blog award by the lovely Becc at Take Charge Now, who awarded myself and 9 other bloggers with the Sunshine Award for positive and inspiring blogging:

The Sunshine Award is an award given by bloggers to other bloggers. The recipients of the Sunshine Award are: “Bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogsphere”. The way the award works is this: Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them. Answer questions about yourself. Select 10 of your favourite bloggers, link their blogs to your post and let them know they have been awarded the Sunshine Award!

So thank you Becc for my first blogging award and here’s my answers to the following questions…

1. Favourite Time of the Year?

Spring – I love the promise of spring, the growing warmth (without the sticky heat) and the blooms and the anticipation of summer!

2. Favourite Festive movie?

Love Actually – it is funny, romantic, sweet and tender – and it has Colin Firth and Hugh Grant!!!

3. What is your Passion?

I’m quite passionate about blogging and advocating for children with special needs.

4. Favourite Colour?

I have to say red – I’m eyeing off red appliances to go in my new white kitchen as we speak!

5. Favourite time of the Day?

First thing in the morning – I try to go for a walk most days at 6am and it is such an inspiring time to be out and about.

6. Favourite Flower?

Tiger lillies – they were in my wedding bouquet and I have always loved them.

7. Favourite Non-Alcoholic Beverage?

Tea (English Breakfast is my brew of choice)

8. Favourite Physical Activity?

I love walking but I’m missing competitive tennis after a year’s break.

9. Favourite Vacation?

My honeymoon to Paris and London – I would love to go back one day!

Here are 10 bloggers who, to me, inspire and light up the blogosphere everyday:

 Always Josefa

Handmade Tears and Triumphs

Essentially Jess

Denyse Whelan – Life’s Stories

Saturday Morning Ogre Mum

A Study in Contradictions

Housewife in Heels

Ness of Boganville

Now, to those bloggers listed, I would love you to take part and share the love but it is completely up to you.

To my readers, if you haven’t discovered these bloggers yet, you should really take the time to check them out!

If being tagged for an award wasn’t enough, I was also tagged by Leanne from Deep Fried Fruit & Lydia from Where the Wild Things Were in Essentially Jess’ Christmas Wish List tagging game.

I get to share the 5 ultimate things I would love for Christmas and then tag 5 others to share their wishlists too.

Are you ready?

1. I would love to go to every tennis grand slam tournament – Melbourne, Paris, London and New York. Apart from enjoying the tennis, I would love to indulge in sightseeing and, if money was no object, the shopping too!

2. I would love a MacBook Pro. My Acer laptop is adequate but Delilah has been having fun taking off all my keys when I’m not looking. I am now missing the ‘H’ key and have a sticky ‘5’ key too. You can’t blame me for lusting after the light-up, intact keyboard that would come with a Mac…

3. I would love to not have to work. Spending my days at home and being there for the kids whenever they needed me and not having to divide my time everywhere would be heaven. My christmas wish would be complete if my husband could do the same. That would be awesome!

4. I would love a new car. We currently squeeze 3 kids into the back of a 10 year old Holden Commodore. I dream of a bigger car like a Territory, a Kluger or a Mazda 9, where the kids can be separated if required and we could take everything we needed on our rare family holidays. Doesn’t it look good?

5. Finally, I just want my kids to be happy all their lives. Is that really too much to ask for, Santa?

So, now you know what’s on my ultimate Christmas list, what’s on yours?

And more importantly, what’s on the lists of the following bloggers (who are all now officially tagged!)

Apologies to those who may have already been tagged by others – I’m honestly struggling to keep up with everything this week!

Being Gawee

Mum Talks Autism

Bliss Amongst Chaos

A Parenting Life

Mums Take Five

I’m also taking the opportunity to link up with a few more awesome bloggers today: flogging with Grace, flashing with Bree and knowing with Miss Cinders.

Make sure you check out all the bloggers listed and have a fabulous weekend!

Spread the positivity!

Your blog is great – I love it – no craft or cooking, sounds like me all over! As for your Xmas wish list, I totally agree with not having to work, I wish I could do the same, devote my time to my 3 young children while they are still young.
Come check me out if you’d like a laugh on me!

Thanks Alicia. It was daunting yet fun to think about my ultimate wish list. It ended up being very materialistic though, maybe I should have thrown in a wish for world peace as well?

  4. I agree with your comment when I shared the award with you, it is so lovely to get to know more about you. I hope Santa is good to you this year (and for the rest of your kids lives).

    • Kirsty says:

Thanks Rita. My husband has a MacBook Pro so I tend to lust after it on a daily basis – but at least I have something to blog on, so I shouldn’t really complain. Your list is so much more worthy than mine, I really hope they all come true for you – I hope you have a truly wonderful xmas!

  6. Ness says:

Congratulations on the Sunshine award Kirsty! And thanks so much for mentioning my blog in your top ten. That is really sweet of you. I’d love to take part, but I may need guidance in what to do. I just pretend I know what I’m doing, in case it isn’t obvious lol. Enjoy your very busy weekend!

    • Kirsty says:

Ness, doesn’t the saying go “fake it till you make it?” – you’re doing well, keep on keeping on!

All you need to do is write a post answering the same questions listed in mine and then tag 10 bloggers in the post and let them know you have tagged them (I’m letting them know by leaving a comment on a post on their blog). I hope that helps but let me know if you need any pointers…

      • Ness says:

Thanks for the encouragement and help Kirsty! I’ll see how I go with it. It’s so busy this time of year, but I don’t need to tell you that!! Have a great week. 🙂

If you can get to it, give it a go. I don’t often give shout outs or tag other bloggers (I should though!) so it was a nice change to have the chance to do so. I’ve also enjoyed finding out other blogs that way – see how you go!

  7. I’m really enjoying all the Christmas list posts that are floating about at the moment. Great to see how the challenge has spread! xx

I think I’m in love with your Christmas list. It’s pretty much smack bang exact to what I would love if I could have anything. I would LOVE a Kluger too – I could near fit all the kids in one of them!

Lydia c lee recently posted..Dear Santa,

    • Kirsty says:

Yep Lydia, it does. The rest I do without and will continue to do without, but my children’s happiness would be the greatest gift, by far.

  18. I think we all want our kids to be happy. Hopefully Santa heard that one 🙂
Also, call the macbook fairy. I wrote her a post just before my birthday and she delivered 😉

    • Kirsty says:

Jess, that’s the one that counts the most – I can do without the rest, but I would do anything for my children’s happiness.

However, should the MacBook fairy be listening, I wouldn’t refuse her delivery should she be kind enough to call!

  19. gawee says:

Well done Kirsty. I love your wish list and those that you’ve tagged. And surprise, I’ve found time to create my wish list too!

I love your work, I get a laugh every time I get the chance to read your posts and I hope you find a rhythm so you can balance everything in a positive way for you and your family!

  21. what a wonderful post, so many lovely things

I know! My husband has one and I sit there, staring with envy, as he types on his pretty light up keyboard while I type on my dark, sticky, keyboard with a stack of missing keys… I can’t wait to read your post!

  23. Robomum says:

I must’ve missed this during my hiatus. Congrats. I like these special bloggy awards. A fun way of learning more about your fellow bloggers. You should try getting back into comp tennis. Playing sport is such an excellent passion to have.
    Robomum recently posted..Tag again…

    • Kirsty says:

I do want to go back to tennis – I just have to decide whether I go back to my old comp or whether I can find some people a little closer to home to have a social game with. I’m pretty crap at decision-making, so don’t expect an answer right away….!

  24. SNAP! I was tagged for this too and the MacBook Pro is top of my list too! My space bar is currently broken due to little feet stomping all over the keyboard (I know shouldn’t have left it on the floor!).
We are very lucky to have tickets to the Australian Open for the mens final so I am super excited about that – that is our present to each other this year as it costs a smallmortgage for a ticket!
Congratulations on your blog award – what a lovely thing.

Rhian, I feel for you and the broken space bar – that is one key you really don’t want to be broken! May the MacBook fairy visit you this christmas…I think you need her assistance more than I do.

Meanwhile, I am totally envious that you will be at the men’s final this year – that would be so fantastic – I hope you both have a wonderful time!
