Moving Forward with My Home Truths

A few weeks back I asked for your opinion on whether I should resurrect I Must Confess as a weekly linkup. I want to thank you all for your advice, it was fantastic to hear your honest and very helpful opinions.

Thanks to your input I am going to bring I Must Confess back on a Monday, starting next Monday November 19.  So start thinking about what you may want to get off your chest and get ready to link up.

And if you can’t link up on Monday, don’t despair as the linkup will be live all week – so no excuses, okay? Unless you have nothing to confess, then you’re off the hook…for this week, anyway…

In other blogging news, I have been doing a fair bit of musing about the direction of the blog and what I want to achieve from it.

I still have no answers as to whether I want to fully monetize or expand but I know one thing for sure. I want to increase the sense of community and embrace other voices and points of view here.

So I have decided to open my blog up to guest posts every Wednesday. Now I don’t have a massive readership but I would love to share my modest space with other bloggers and even those who don’t blog but may have a post inside them itching to escape.

Just so you know, I’m pretty nicheless – my blog flits between parenting and special needs and personal and music – it never stays in the one niche for long. So I’m open to posts on pretty much any subject you choose.

I’d love to inject some humour so bring on your funny posts. I would love to hear real accounts of other special needs parents so send them through. I think seeing more advice and organisational posts would be great as I am not organised in the least. And if you want to rant or vent or complain, go right ahead.

If you’re interested in submitting a guest post, let me know as I’d love to hear from you. Send an email to myhometruths@gmail.com and we’ll go from there. I’ll even get my husband to work on a snazzy button – he’s useful like that!

While on the subject of guest blogging, I’m keen to contribute to other blogs as well so if you’re interested in having a guest post of your own, feel free to get in touch too.

So there you have it – a way forward for My Home Truths. I’m looking forward to building a real community here and getting to know you all a little better. And I really hope you can join me on this journey too.

As usual, I’m flogging with Grace and flashing with Bree – hope to see you around on Monday!

    Love, love, love it!
Monday’s are great…and nicheless, I love that! Sounds so much better than self-centered megalomaniac, which was how I saw blogging style before…

  2. Lydia c lee says:

Just to clarify, the selcentred megalomaniac is aimed at myself, not you. Just realised that may’ve come across differently to my intent…

    • Kirsty says:

Thanks for the clarification Lydia!!!! Although I do consider that I am completely self-centred so no offence taken 😉

  3. Yay, I only got to do one I Must Confess post before you took a break, but it is still one of my most clicked on posts (probably because it was all about tv shows and everyone is googling for pics! Lol!). I am going to get my thinking cap straight one.

Re: Guest posts, I would love to do a guest post, I don’t know what on but I’ll have a think about it. I am also looking for a few more guest posters for my Confessions of a New Mum series for next year, so I will send you an email when I have a bit more time to sit and think and we can work something out.

    • Kirsty says:

I’m so glad I inadvertently helped your stats Kylie – happy to be of service! It’d be great to have you take part, I’m really looking forward to running it again.

I’ll get in touch with you too re reciprocal guest posting – hoping we can definitely work something out.

Ooo.. this sounds intriguing. I will have to start thinking what I am brave enough to confess!

    • Enid Bite'Em says:

I agree! … and what a great title! I’m going to head over and find some of those posts now 🙂

      • Kirsty says:

Just search for I Must Confess and you should find them all. I originally started out doing vlogs – they’re pretty bad but they may be an interesting introduction for you!

    • Kirsty says:

It doesn’t have to be serious Sophie. If you have a search for my previous I Must Confess posts they never really confessed very much, they were just a bit of fun, mainly at my expense! I’d love for you to take part some time but don’t feel you have to jump in immediately though…

  5. Our blogs are always evolving and changing. That’s the best bit 🙂

That is definitely one of the best bits Bree. I’m just amazed that I’m still blogging at all – for something that started off as whim as a last minute new year’s eve resolution, it has turned out to be one of the best things I’ve ever done!

  6. Good luck with the new initiative, and I’ll have to awaken the old Catholic in me to front up for confessions 🙂

    • Kirsty says:

Being an old Catholic myself it’s not that hard to let it all flow! The secret is not treating it as a full and formal confession – I look at it more as a bit of fun. I hope you can join in some time.

  7. Oh glad to hear you’ve got a little bit of direction! It’s always a good place to start.

    • Kirsty says:

Having been directionless for a while now it’s really quite exciting to have a way forward. It’s not the complete answer but I’m hoping it will be the beginning of a fun journey and will form the basis of a growing community here.

  8. Kevin says:

so, so much to confess. I’m looking forward to this. I can see my Sunday’s will be spent laughing at my laptop

  9. Hope your new link up on a Monday goes well Kirsty.
I’ll be sure to link up if I have something to confess. Oh and if I think of a guest post, I’ll let you know too! 🙂
