Musical Musings – 90’s Girl Bands

I’ve made no secret in the past of the fact that I have a soft spot for boy bands.  I loved Take That, Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block and many others in my teens and early adult years.  And, I’ll be honest, I still do!

Let’s examine Exhibit A below – Take That from the 90’s vs Take That in the 00’s – they grew up okay, didn’t they?

Anyway…

My love of vocal bands wasn’t just confined to the boy band genre. I also loved listening and dancing to a variety of girl bands too in my younger years.

Do you remember Girlfriend? Bardot? Sugababes? Destiny’s Child? Eternal? Spice Girls? Clearly the 90’s and early 00’s was THE era of the manufactured band and I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you today.

We may cringe at the outfits and the choreographed moves and the “manufacturedness” of these numbers, but I, for one, still love the music. Yes, I’m a massive music dag and I’m well and truly stuck in the 90’s!

Destiny’s Child – Bootylicious

Eternal – Stay

Spice Girls – Say You’ll Be There

Bardot – Poison

I hope you enjoy that trip down memory lane while I go back to listening to more 90’s classics on my iPod!

Have a great Sunday everyone!
