Musical Musings – Olympic Inspiration
I may still be undecided about returning to full-on blogging, however I know that I want to feature more music here on the blog. Work that one out…
Long time readers will know that I love music and I used to join in with a link-up called the Sunday Session which has sadly now ceased to be. I was still adding the odd music post under the guise of Sunday Session after the link up ended but it did not feel right to continue this way.
So, I want to introduce you to my new series called Musical Musings which will see music on a Sunday return to the blog – whether you like it or not!
As the Olympics are coming to a close I wanted to feature some songs I have heard on the coverage. These songs have been used as filler or on ads but have really got me in the sporting mood. Let’s hope the motivation continues long after the closing ceremony!
Franz Ferdinand – Take Me Out
I think Channel 9 use this song for every sport they telecast but that does not matter to me. I could listen to this one over and over again. I love the change in tempo mid song and can’t help but move my body in time to the fabulous guitar riff in the chorus – a tremendous sport song!
KJ-52 – No Stopping Me
Yes, this is the song you have been hearing on the Swisse Ultivite ads, many, many times each day. Despite the blanket coverage, I still really like this song. It’s smooth. It’s funky. It’s upbeat. It makes me feel good. I may use those feelings to actually do some exercise of my own one day…maybe…
Spandau Ballet – Gold
Yes, I did go there. Heck, I love this song, it’s all about the gold (according to the media) and it’s an obvious choice when considering Olympic inspired tunes.
So there’s my Olympics inspired playlist. What would be on yours?
