Sunday Session – Dodgy Duets

I love playing music here on Sundays. It makes my heart sing, brings a spring to my step and always lifts my mood.

Despite the dodgyness of these duets (and I freely offer my apologies in advance for anyone embarrassed for me!) these songs just make me want to sing along at the top of my voice.

How could you not?

I think the time of the duet was in my formative years in the 1970s and 1980s. Gosh there there are some amazing duets from that time.

Take Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb for instance, with “Guilty”. I love this song, you have to agree Barbra’s voice and Barry’s harmonisation are flawless, even if you don’t love the song quite as much as I do!

And talking duets, can you leave out Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Richard’s “Suddenly”? Another classic song together with sublimely matched voices.

And let’s not forget Kylie and Jason’s “Especially For You” – yes it’s daggy and very dated now but it’s a sweet clip and you can’t deny the song is rather catchy…

If that selection has whet your appetite for more awesome duets, you should check out this compilation of classic 80’s duets – it certainly brought back the memories for me!

Happy Sunday to you all!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who can appreciate this music – yes, it does make us feel our age but it’s ten times better than anything I hear on commercial radio anymore (now I feel old writing that down…!)

I grew up listening to my dad play his “Guilty” album all the time and I love it.Thanks for reminding me.
I’m also a fan of “Islands in the stream” which is way more dodgy than any of your selections.
Now I must stop being distracted by this brilliant music and return to my studies. Have a super Sunday Kirsty.

Actually Islands in the Stream is fairly dodgy – I remember listening to the Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers version when I was young (Mum and Dad had the album) but I don’t like it quite as much as these. I grew up listening to all these easy listening classics – I don’t think my parents realise how responsible they are for my music tastes to this day! Now go back and be a nerd again!
