I Must Confess…I’m no Photographer

Hello one and all and welcome to another confession from yours truly as part of the I Must Confess linkup.

I was pleased last week to have another brave soul linkup their confession – thanks Ang from Melting Moments for making me feel a little less alone!

This week I’m going to confess something that may not surprise you but I’m also going commit to something that might!

I don’t think it’s a huge secret that I am in no way a photographer. There’s a reason not many of my own photos make it onto this blog.

Quite frankly I’m crap.

I have no idea about composition or light or framing or anything. My photos are usually pretty ordinary, even the ones I actually do take the time and effort to try to do well.

I’m not a naturally patient person which I think goes a long way to explaining why I am not culinary nor crafty nor arty. I simply don’t have the patience to wait around to follow a recipe or undertake a complicated craft project or take phenomenal photos. I wish I did though – take phenomenal photos, that is.

Up until now I have shyed away from taking part in photography challenges because of my very crapness. I didn’t want anyone else having to see my photos and I didn’t have the motivation to try to get any better.

But not anymore. I want to take my own photos and capture my Three Little Bears in all their glory. I want to make my blog mine and not have to rely on royalty free images that are sometimes so hard to attribute.

So as a first step I am taking part in Fat Mum Slim’s June Photo a Day Challenge. I have been watching it grow and grow each month and have often wished that I was taking part too.

Two things finally jolted me into action. First, my good friend and fellow blogger Gary, from Being Gawee, put up his photo for day 1 and reminded me that it was on – thanks Gaz!

Second, Chantelle’s post about the start of the new challenge struck a chord. Particularly when she likened her monthly montage of photo a day photos to a visual journal. I suddenly wanted to do the same. I have a word journal already here, it would be great to complement it with a visual representation of my life at a given point in time.

So here are my first two photos for the first two days of the June challenge:

Day 1 – morning

Day 2 – empty

If you want to follow my feeble attempts at photography you can follow me on:

Twitter: My Home Truths

Instagram: My Home Truths (I can’t link it but feel free to follow me there as well!)

Starting to notice a theme here????

Anyway, I would love to know who else is doing the challenge this month so I can follow you too – so please leave your various social media handles in the comments so I can start stalking you (the nice sort of stalking, not the creepy kind…)

Do you have anything to confess to this week? If you do, link it up and feel better for getting it off your chest!

The Rules…

– I Must Confess is a link up that will be happening every Sunday – a bit of a homage to my Catholic upbringing, in fact!

– The link will be live from 10pm Saturday night for the whole week.

– You can link up something old or new, we’re not fussy around here.

– Please go forth and share the comment love – it is bloggy crack after all!

Spread the positivity!

I was very good following the photo challenge from January to April, but fell off the wagon in may. But I’m back this month, and feeling slightly sad I missed last month! http://Www.facebook.com/life.behind.the.purple.door

I’ll definitely be following you Cate. I’m not sure how well I’ll be able to keep up but I’ll do my best. Glad to see you’re getting back on the wagon!

Wow, where do I start? Firstly I must thank you Kirsty for mentioning/linking to me in a blog post – I’m quite honoured and chuffed.

Secondly I have to say woo hoo, so glad that you’ve decided to have a go at the Photo A Day Challenge. No need to be concerned at the quality of images as it’s more about the actual journey and the reflection afterwards (well that’s what I think!). However that said, if you are after a few tips, Chantelle over at Fat Mum Slim does give a few pointers on photo composition.

Anyhoo, I’m looking forward to viewing your photos over the coming month. I’ll be posting my pics both on Instagram (look for @gawee) and on my blog.

Cheers (& thanks for the link-up),

A mention was long overdue, methinks! Looking forward to following your journey in photos over the coming month – I just hope I can keep up – the pressure!!!
