I Must Confess…I Have a New Blog!

It’s the weekend once again – how exactly did that come around so fast?

And the weekend means it’s time for another confession as part of I Must Confess – the most unsuccessful link up in the blogosphere but one I just can’t leave alone!

This week I need to confess that I have been slightly distracted and not quite here on this blog – if you haven’t already noticed…

I feel slighty disloyal but it is for a good cause, hand on my heart, pinkie promise.

I’ve been preoccupied elsewhere as I have been working on a new project with my husband.

We have started up a joint blog celebrating our geek interests and our passion for sharing this with our kids – Just Add Geek.

Our blog philosophy is simple – the fun doesn’t have to end when parenthood begins.

It’s a blog aimed at our Generation X contemporaries, who grew up with geek classics like Star Wars and Doctor Who. Who enjoyed playing on the Atari or Commodore 64. Who loved Monkey Magic, Battle of the Planets and other classic shows. Who are enjoying the current renaissance of comic book heroes and pop culture bows to all things geekery (who doesn’t get a chuckle out of The Big Bang Theory?).

We’re going to post our musings on all things geek, spotlight issues, share our favourites and flashback to some awesome classic TV shows and movies.

Already, we have posted about a geek approach to mother’s day, argued that letting your kids play video games is not all bad and have looked back with fondness on one of our favourite cartoons growing up.

So if you’re a geek yourself, married to one or are just interested in reliving the glories of your youth, come on over and check us out!

In case you’re wondering, I’m the Harry Potter geek on the left, while my husband is the would-be Jedi on the right.

So that’s my confession for the week – I hope if you are even remotely interested you’ll have a peek.

I know for a fact there are a few geeks out there already…are you game enough to ‘fess up?

The Rules…

– I Must Confess is a link up that will be happening every Sunday – a bit of a homage to my Catholic upbringing, in fact!

– The link will be live from 10pm Saturday night for the whole week.

– You can link up something old or new, we’re not fussy around here.

– Please go forth and share the comment love – it is bloggy crack after all!

It’s cool Trish, you don’t need to confess anything. Besides, if you did, it would completely ruin my right to brag about having the most unsuccessful linkup going!

Thanks for liking our page – I need to work out how to change the settings so your comment is visible – sometimes Facebook can be painful…

  2. Great idea for a new blog. Love it. Shall pop over and check it out:)

Thanks Caz – we’re hoping it will be a bit of fun once we get into a groove (and once we work out how to work, look after the family and maintain our own blogs as well!)

This is an awesome idea for Just Add Geek.

I am going to try and participate in this weeks’ blog hop. I havent’ done any in ages and recently because of my new job all blog stuff has been put to a side. Need to start getting some things back into balance.

Bronwyn, I hear you about keeping up blogging while working. I barely keep up with one, let alone two and then I rarely get the chance to comment on other blogs which makes me look bad. I hope you are enjoying the new job, I’m still feeling my way through my new position even though I have been there for nearly 7 weeks now. I hope you settle in with more speed and less fuss!

Oh I must confess that the blogging world has passed me by. I was really good at websites when they were only html. I don’t know where top start! That’s why I only have the FB page. I’m not ready to splash money out on it, I need to get my feet wet first. Who has a good resource out there?

    • Kirsty says:

There’s a few bloggers who are designers themselves. It depends which platform you want to go off – blogger or wordpress. Melissa at Suger Coat It is a Blogger turned WordPress expert, Kate at Picklebums also does web design and Chantelle at Fat Mum Slim is also very tech savvy. Check out their sites to see what posts they have about blogging and design – I can’t think of any particular posts right now.
