Have I told you all lately how much of a delight my 18 month old munchkin is?
It’s times like these that I wish I could show you some real pictures of my littlest bear. She is just the cutest little person right now.
Sure, she is starting to assert her independence and show definite opinions (very definite opinions in fact!) but she is such a vibrant character that I love her even when she’s stamping her foot at me in temper!
Delilah has the cheekiest grin. Her eyes look all mischievous and she tilts her head to one side and then literally cracks herself up with laughter. Her laugh is like a cackle – all at once utterly breathtaking and insanely contagious!
She loves dancing – she bops up and down and stamps one leg in time to music. She knows the theme songs to her favourite shows and runs as fast as her little chubby legs can carry her so she can do her dance before the theme song ends.
Her vocabulary is starting to bloom. She says “hi yo” (hello) and “ba” (bye) when meeting and greeting people. She even says hi yo to her teddies and dollies most mornings!
She is absolutely emphatic when responding to questions posed to her. She will nod her head and come out with a definite “yup” when asked whether she wants something to eat (in these cases her answer is ALWAYS in the affirmative) while also shaking her head and letting us know most definitely when the answer is “na”.
Delilah likes to hug hard – she wraps her arms around your neck and really gives a good, long, hard cuddle. There’s nothing sweeter than having a snuggle with your cuddly koala bear! She also likes backing into you to sit on your lap and also likes the old hugging-you-around-the-legs-while-burrowing-into-your-bottom cuddle…as you do…
She loves exploring the world around her and I never cease enjoying seeing the little things through her eyes. She finds interest in the smallest things and loves nothing more than escaping into the backyard to pick “flowers” (the little weed flowers that seem to grow everywhere as the weather warms up).
Her other favourite outdoor activities include bouncing on our old and tattered trampoline (Santa should be “helping” us with a replacement this christmas!), sliding on the toddler sized slippery dip (she is proud of her ability to climb up the ladder all by herself now) and trying to escape our front yard. There’s a reason why we have now secured our yard…
Have I mentioned her love of animals and books and “In the Night Garden”? Or that her devotion to her older brother and sister brings tears to my eyes? Not to mention how my heart sings when she calls out “mama” to me, countless times a day?
I could go on and on but you probably already get the picture – I love my little girl with all my heart, she is a joy to be around and she is an absolute delight. I love you my little Delilah Bear!
