Things I Know – The A to Z of Me

For this week’s Things I Know I thought I would borrow an idea I have seen recently from At Home Mum and Aspie in the Family and give you the lowdown on the A to Z of me. It’s fun, feel free to do one of these yourself and send this idea out into the blogosphere…

A – Age: 36.
B – Bed Size: Queen.
C – Chore You Hate: Ironing. I hate this chore. With a passion. The only thing that keeps me sane on ironing night is that I get to watch Castle (except it is no longer on Sunday night…bugger…)
D – Dogs Name: Mishka. She was a German Shepherd/Kelpie cross and was mad as a cut snake…literally. She loved females but took issue with males which made life difficult for my father and brother, but I loved her anyway. Favourite ever dog’s name.
E – Essential Start of the Day: Hot shower. Cannot fully function without a shower.
F – Favourite Colour: I don’t actally have one but my winter colour is red and my summer colour is light blue.
G – Gold or Silver: White gold.
H – Height: 5ft 1 inch (155 cms) – I’m vertically challenged.
I – Instruments you play: I loved music at school and sang in a choir. I also learned the piano and played the double bass in the school orchestra. Note I’m not counting the many years learning the recorder in primary school…
J – Job:  My first job was a service station assistant (I lasted 10 months) while my second job, in the commonwealth public service, has now lasted for nearly 17 years. I’ve done lots of things in that time but my current role is a finance officer.
K – Kids: 3 kids. Gilbert Bear who is 7, Matilda Bear who will be 6 next month and Delilah Bear who is 17 months old.
L – live: I live with my family in a house in a western suburb of Newcastle, NSW.
M – Music You Love: I’m eclectic – I love pop, rock, jazz, R&B, soul, hip hop – favourite band is Jamiroquai who’s songs run the gamut of all those genres.
N – Nicknames: Krusty
O – Overnight Hospital Stays: Apart from the birth of my three kids my only other overnight hospital stay was when I had my tonsils out a few years back – and no, unlike the movies or TV shows, you are not offered ice-cream straight after…
P – Pet Peeve: smoking … I grew up with 2 parents that smoked … have never smoked myself and just don’t like it (I’m with At Home Mum on this one)
Q – Quote from a Movie: “Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherf*ing snakes on this motherf*ng plane!” – how cool is Samuel L Jackson in the B Grade awesomeness that is Snakes on a Plane?
R – Right handed or Left: Right handed.
S – Siblings: 1 younger brother
T – Time you wake up: 6 am
U – Underwear: Comfortable
V – Vegetables you dislike: Brussel Sprouts – can’t stand the texture
W – Workout Style: Tennis and walking.
X – X-Rays You’ve Had: Chest, right foot, right hand
Y – Yummy Food You Make: I’m not much of a cook but my husband does enjoy my roast lamb dinners
Z – zoo animal favourites – Giraffes – you can get so close to them at Western Plains zoo – awesome.

So there are some things I know about me – linking with Shae from Yay for Home for Things I Know – go forth and see what everyone else knows this week!

Spread the positivity!

Hehe I don’t count the recorder either 😛 I play saxophone and for a while there played cello – a very unusual combination!

My best friend played the cello – that’s how I ended up in the school orchestra – they needed someone to play double bass and I could read music so I virtually taught myself. We’d always get into trouble in the back row…

But the sax is sexy, that is a seriously cool instrument – do you play with sunglasses on (as was de rigeur in all 80’s bands?)

  3. I’ve seen quite a few of these posts and keep meaning to put one into my blog schedule! I’m with you on the ironing. Thankfully, hubby does all that!! 🙂

It was fun to do and so easy…I like the easy option when blogging! I wish my husband would help me with the ironing – if I don’t do it, it just doesn’t get done…

I think it is a fantastic list and would make an awesome About page! I’m with you on the ironing. Thankfully,

There is no ironing in my house. It is just not an option, thankfully we have a wash and wear type of wardrobe.

Ironing is so overrated, not something I do much of.

Smoking is one of my pet peeves too, so relieved when one of my best friends who was a smoker decided to quit. Now I can visit her without asthma attacks.

The smoking thing is a real deal breaker for me. My husband was a social smoker when we first met but he stopped when I told him how I felt about it – even my mum and dad have now quit, thank goodness! Glad that your friend decided to quit and hoping that she can keep it up too!
